When choosing who will represent the Product Owner in your team, the following competencies will be important:

• Communication- the ability to transfer information in a clear effective way
• Transparency- able to maintain product backlog items priority order, making sure its visible and understood
• Visionary- the ability to see the big picture to meet product goal
• Decision Maker- in order for product owner to succeed his/hers decision must be respected, therefore the ability to influence is important
• Customer Orientation- working to improve customer value
